Short Walk to Petit Marche

So for lunch today I went to one of my top 5 favourite joints in the area; Petit Marche.

Upon entering into the establishment I found out they are currently offering either a free drink, cookie or bag of chips with your lunch meal which is downright ludicrous due to the fact that their lunch meal is already only 5 bucks flat. The other thing I noticed is that there was three sandwiches of the day (egg, tuna & chicken salad) which was another kickbutt bonus.

I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat and got my side salad with french dressing with some chickpea/bean salad jammed in there too. As I was waiting for the sandwich technician to complete my order I went to the fridge to get my drink. I was denied when I tried to get a V8 for free (50 cents extra) so I went for the tasty, and slightly less healthy cream soda. Once I got back to the counter my sandwich was ready and I paid my $5. I sat on the least wobbly stool there and started on this hefty sandwich. I'm always quite amazed at how much goods they stuff between the slices. It was a very typical deli-style sandwich but jammed full with an immense amount of le poulet. After having that along with the decent-sized salad I was left feeling full and all-around wicked-satisfied.

Overall it was a real tasty, healthy and affordable lunch. If you are near Union Station looking for some cheap eats go check this place out!

No Canjun's at First Canadian Place

Yesterday I forgot to update the Lunch Blog. I went on a bit of a trek up to First Canadian Place Ed seemed to think that the Bourbon St. Grill in the food court would be top notch. Well I think I have mixed feelings on that. First I am going to post a quote from the Bourbon St Grill blurb on the First Canadian Place website.

“At Bourbon St. Grill we take extreme pride in serving all our valued customers, with quick service and tasty Cajun cuisine. You can find Bourbon St. Grill in food courts all over North America with over 12 locations in Canada already! So come, give us a visit, we`re already prepared with free samples of our "World Famous Chicken". What are you waiting for? Come experience the fast service and taste how quality food should be now!”

Yes I agree I could see the pride in the faces of the employees working there. The Quick service though was so quick that I barely had a chance to see the pride. HOLY MOLY they were fast! They took my order before I reached the counter and I was passed to employee to employee I probably dealt with 4 of the employees there in under 30 seconds. This caused me grief because I did not have enough time to have a good solid look at what they were offering. I was so hurried that my responses were quick and precise based on what I know they have. Not necessarily on what I wanted. This brings me to the tasty part. I ordered 2 meat and home fries. The home fries were very tasty as usual. The meat on the other hand was decent I had the bourbon chicken and the blackened chicken. The Blackened chicken was very bland and the bourbon chicken was ok. I didn’t get a chance to ask for any free samples I would say that if I was going to ask for free samples going over at high noon is not a good idea. Which I guess would explain why there are 12 employees working behind a counter that can probably on fit 4 max. Also I did notice any authentic Cajun’s working there. Kind of bummed about that. I’m not really sure what a Cajun looks like.
Here is a site that contains the menu.

Subway..... eat fresh... and fast

Today I went to Subway at 33 University Ave Toronto for lunch. I had the Infamous roasted chicken sub on whole wheat. For the past few trips to this restaurant I have been thinking about this but I struggle so much with the menu that I end up ordering whatever appears on the sign in front of me. This time the guy in front of me (Ed) had already ordered the chicken so it was an easy target for me and my belly. I made a few interesting changes to my normal toppings. Abandoning old ways and trying something else I had Roast chicken on WHOLE WHEAT with lettuce, Oregano, Parmesan and Mayo. It was a decent sandwich that made me feel fulfilled. This Subway location is top notch. Service was fast and friendly. My sandwich did not look all sloppy it was truly put together by a sandwich artist! (thanks Felician) This location also offers an online ordering system I guess it part of their express service.
